PRP can be used to treat multiple musculoskeletal conditions, similar to steroid injections, such as osteoarthritis as well as meniscal and tendon injuries.

The procedure involves drawing a small amount of blood from the body. The blood is then spun in a centrifuge in order to separate the red blood cells from the plasma. The plasma is then injected into the target tissue in a similar fashion to a steroid injection.
